Toast to the Children raised over $240,000 dollars through ticket sales, journal advertisements, individual donations, and sale of silent auction items!
Every spring Children of Bellevue teams up with Chef Tom Colicchio and some of New York City’s best restaurants and
the world’s finest wine dealers to host a wine and food tasting like no other. Toast to the Children is a fun, festive event that raises much needed funds for our programs and celebrates our work.
CoB traditionally has three honorees, from the culinary, corporate, and children’s book worlds. This year our distinguished honorees were:
Gail Simmons, a culinary expert, food writer and dynamic television personality. Ms. Simmons is a permanent judge on BRAVO ’s 2010 Emmy winning hit series Top Chef and the host of Top Chef: Just Desserts, Bravo’s pastry-focused spin-off of the Top Chef franchise.
The Phoenix Foundation, the charitable nonprofit organization launched earlier this year by Phoenix Partners Group, a financial sector firm with a strong tradition of philanthropy in terms of both financial giving and on-hands support from its employees. Akasha Absher, president and chair of its board of directors, will accept the honor on the Foundation’s behalf. Ms. Absher is well-known to Children of Bellevue, as she is also among our active volunteers.
David Wiesner, one of only two authors to win three Caldecott Medals, for Tuesday in 1992, The Three Pigs in 2002, and Flotsam in 2007. He has also received two Caldecott Honors, for Free Fall and Sector 7.
The event, which also features an extensive silent auction and vineyards from around the world, was held at Riverpark, 450 East 29th Street.
