Success Stories

Lights! Camera! Language!
The video camera is running and Jermayne Teran's face is all lit up as he dives toward the puppet in his mother's hand. This is the Video Interaction Project in action, and it goal is to find ways that Jermayne and dozens of other infants and toddlers can achieve good language skills and be ready to succeed when they enter school.

Breathing Away Pain and Fear
Dina Lemus came to Bellevue Hospital Center from Argentina because she was very ill. To Dina, the worst thing about her illness was not how bad she felt - it was all the blood tests that monitored the progress of her treatment.

In Their Own Words

Jelly's Story
Hey, my name is Angelica. When I first found out I had HIV, I was very sad. I thought I was very different from everybody else. But I realized that I wasn't and I feel better about myself.

Tito's Story
Hi, my name is Tito. And I have HIV. I hate having HIV. Sometimes you don't feel like a regular person. You feel like a squished bug. They feel mushy.

People contribute time and energy in a variety of important ways - with friends and co-workers, through work or on their own time. Kids' lives are better because they do so.
