17 / 1,000
According to the NY State Council on Children & Families, the rate of child abuse in N.Y. is 17 per 1,000 children based on allegations of child abuse and neglect in 2022.
The Center provides critical services, such as comprehensive evaluations in a child-focused environment, including forensic medical and social work assessments for pediatric victims of assault, sexual assault, and trafficking. Services include post sexual assault medical care and treatment, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and advocacy with law enforcement and legal services, in both Criminal Court and Family Court. The interdisciplinary nature of the program’s services and techniques and the comprehensive nature of the evaluations make the Center unique among any other hospital-based child abuse program.
