We Eat Together is an integrated food security platform for the kids of NYC.

1 in 4 children in NYC are experiencing food insecurity right now.

Having enough food to eat is where being healthy starts. Without healthy food, even the best healthcare in New York City won’t keep a child growing. One in four children in New York City - nearly 500,000 kids - are experiencing food insecurity. That number is too large - and it doesn’t fall equally across the city. It hits particularly hard in low-income communities and communities of color that have been disproportionately harmed by decades of policy inequities and systemic failures.

We Eat Together provides staples (things like rice, beans, and pasta), fresh produce, and “Greenmarket Bucks” that can be used at any Farmer’s Market or Farmstand in New York City to buy healthy perishable items like bread, milk, eggs and much more. It also registers kids for free meal programs at school, connects families to food pantries that are close to where they live and work, and helps them apply for assistance programs - all at Bellevue - when their kids have medical appointments. This is very important because so many of our families work minimum-wage, hourly jobs. Every hour away from work is less money to meet basic needs. We try to make it a little easier to take care of your family.
